Ukraine Joins Consultations on Strait of Hormuz Operations

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday that Ukrainian military personnel are participating in discussions regarding the ongoing operation of the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports.

In a Telegram statement, he said Kyiv is preparing the European component of its security proposals, modeled on agreements recently reached during negotiations in the Middle East and Gulf regions.

"Safe navigation is a global value, as we know from our experience of protection in the Black Sea," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that Arab countries required “expertise” for their defense systems, which Ukraine was able to provide, resulting in long-term agreements on security cooperation.

"The next few weeks will be devoted to just such work with our partners in Europe -- our joint productions, our defense modernization, defense financing programs, and security coordination," he added.

Zelenskyy also acknowledged the fluid nature of international developments, particularly regarding Iran and Europe–US relations. "Of course, the situation can change on a daily basis — and quite significantly, especially considering what is happening with Iran and in relations between Europe and America. But our interests are long-term — for everyone in Europe, first of all, it is the interest of security," he said.
