Defense Ministry Confirms Missile Attack on Qatar Was Thwarted
Local media said explosions were heard in the skies over the capital, Doha, after aerial threats were detected and neutralized.
Earlier in the day, the country’s Interior Ministry stated that authorities had begun evacuating certain designated locations as a temporary safety step while potential security threats are being addressed.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, officials urged residents to obtain updates only from official channels and to comply with instructions issued by authorities.
Regional tensions have risen sharply since coordinated military strikes were carried out against Iran on Feb. 28 by Israel and the United States. The attacks have resulted in roughly 1,300 deaths in Iran, including the country’s then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched a series of drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Iraq, and several Gulf states that host American military facilities.
